Reactivate Dallas – a community-driven initiative by The Walls Project that revitalizes underused spaces through volunteerism, public art, and strategic cleanups – is proud to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through collective action at the 5th Annual MLK Fest 2026 (“MLK Fest”), a celebration garnering connectivity for the South Dallas-Fair Park neighborhood, with service and creativity.
Taking place on Saturday, January 17, MLK Fest will transform remembrance into momentum by mobilizing volunteers to rejuvenate and beautify South Dallas neighborhoods and community spaces.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 17 | COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP AND BLOCK PARTY
On Saturday, January 17, MLK Fest will culminate with a large-scale community clean-up, as neighbors, nonprofits, churches, small businesses, and volunteers come together to beautify South Dallas. The community clean-up project will span across 10 designated zones within South Dallas, and engage over 2,500 volunteers and 100+ community partners who will dedicate hours cleaning sidewalks, mowing grass, beautifying vacant lots, and more.
Additionally, local artists will gather for an area mural installation that celebrates Black history and culture. The 2026 mural will be inspired by the legacy of Mrs. Juanita Craft, a civil rights advocate for desegregation and equality.
Following the clean-up, a Resource and Block Party will be held back at the MLK Community Center at 12PM to feature live entertainment, guest speakers, a community resource fair, craft vendors, food trucks, kid zone activities, and more for the entire family. The block party is open to the public and offers a space to reflect, connect, and celebrate the collective impact of the weekend.
The Walls Project extends sincere thanks to all volunteers, partners, and sponsors who make MLK Fest possible. Special thanks to major sponsors, Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, Texas Trees Foundation, the City of Dallas, TPID, UT Southwestern Medical Center, American Airlines, MetroCare, Statewide Remodeling, City of Dallas Parks and Recreation, and The Ryan Foundation, for their leadership and commitment to community-driven change.
Together, MLK Fest 2026 is more than a weekend of service. It is a reminder that building a more vibrant South Dallas happens when neighbors come together, roll up their sleeves, and continue the work.
