If you’re a woman who sweats a lot, you know how hard the summer season can be on your beauty regimen. You aren’t alone, either. There are 8 million Americans living with hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, and they sweat four to five times more than the average person. So much sweat can be hard to hide because the evidence is all over your face, literally. This is true especially for those who wear makeup.

There is some hope, however. There are some helpful tips and tricks out there that will help keep your makeup in place and combat the summer heat and humidity. Whatever the cause of your sweat is, you won’t have to worry about it anymore. Follow these tips and your makeup will look flawless all summer long.

Cool off before application

If you’re a morning shower person, it’s best to wait at least 10 minutes after the shower before you start applying your makeup. Putting your makeup on warm skin makes the skin absorb the makeup quicker, which can cause breakouts, especially when you sweat. Make sure to let your skin cool down before you slap all that stuff on your face.

Fight acne in your routine

Sweating usually makes your skin more susceptible to acne and breakouts. As a part of your beauty routine, you should also be working to fight blemishes on your skin. According to Health.com, using a body wipe with at least 2% salicyle acid over your skin can help fight bacteria and reduce blemishes. When your skin is clear, the sweat can’t bother you.

Mist that face

When you’re an excessive sweater, you know that you often have to refresh your makeup throughout the day. Using a facial spray or mist when you first apply your makeup can help avoid these extra touch-ups, but you should also carry a travel mist. The mist can help cool your skin, as well as keep your makeup in place.

Sometimes, less is more when it comes to makeup. When the temperature start to climb, embrace the natural beauty of your skin to help your sweaty face. You may just look and feel better the less makeup you wear.
