The Family (formerly of Kirk Franklin & The Family) celebrated the release of their new EP Together Forever at New Breed Christian Center in Fort Worth on October 12. Hosted by Aldren McCullar and Carmina Barnett, the intimate listening celebration unveiled The Family’s brand new album—a first for the gospel group following a 30-year hiatus.

The Family globally hit the scene in the early 90’s, with one of its most notable collaborations for the debut album Kirk Franklin & the Family, which was released in June of 1993. With legendary chart-toppers “Why We Sing”, “Silver & Gold”, “He’s Able”, and more, the album quickly became an instant hit—and to date, remains as one of the top-selling gospel albums of all time.

Bringing back 12 of the original members: Kisha Grandy-Lee, Dalon Collins, Carrie “Mousie” Collins, Darrell Blair, Teresa Rucker, Jeannette Johnson, Yolanda McDonald, Ramona Barlow White, Sheila “Mother” Brice, Demetrice Clinkscale, Nelda Washington, and Stephanie Glynn—The Family came to let audiences and fans know that they’ve “never stopped singing” and that “it is the appointed time for The Family again.”

“Our agenda is never to place ourselves in front of the Kingdom of God. Just to be here again—it’s a set time,” The Family member Dalon Collins said. “I was done with singing. Two years ago I couldn’t sing…so just to get another opportunity to use this gift, with this group of people, is everything.”

Together Forever boasts 7 songs, with “Expectancy” featuring an appearance by Earnest Pugh, and “Throwback Medley” reminding listeners why The Family will forever be one of the most iconic gospel groups of all time. The artists debuted an all-new music video for “Jesus (I Love You Lord Today)”, which was met with roaring applause and a standing ovation.

Together Forever was released on October 3, and is available now on Spotify and Apple Music. Plans of a tour and future appearances are still developing.
