Dr. Froswa’ Booker, a multi-award-winning author, professor, scholar, and preeminent voice on Black Women in Philanthropy, has recently earned national recognition for her latest book Front Porch Wisdom: Navigating Leadership Pressures and Barriers as a Woman of Color (Front Porch Wisdom), as it takes home the title for the 2025 ECPA Top Shelf Book Cover Award in the nonfiction category.
The honor is awarded annually through the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) for “excellence in book and bible design”, and across four distinct categories: Bibles, Children’s, Fiction and Nonfiction. Front Porch Wisdom, which was released by InterVarsity Press in June 2025, was conceptualized by Booker, designed by Jeff Miller, and now the latest recipient of the ECPA Top Shelf Book Cover Award.

The cover of the book is the visual demonstration of what the book means to me,” Booker said. “When we were coming up with the idea, I knew that I wanted a silhouette of a woman. She was to capture the essence of someone that we could all relate to—and not just me. I also knew that I wanted her to be the representation of wisdom, along with the color to exude femininity.
