Think of the warm fuzzies you got when reading or viewing The Great Gatsby — but even better. With just the mention of the era, visions of nocturnal toasting, tireless dancing, and boisterous celebrations begin to lavishly take form.
Just fresh after the New Year, Galleria Dallas will embark on this journey — delightfully transporting visitors back in time to the Jazz Age, with the ushering of its highly buzzed about exhibit, Decadence: Fashions from the 1920’s.
On public display from January 22 through February 28, 2016, the Decadence fashion exhibit will beckon the masses, with a flashback to the 1920’s donning alluring looks and accessories specially curated by Ken Weber of Vintage Martini, pieces from the Susan Denn and Robert Schmidt Collection, and even more contributions by the Texas Fashion Collection of UNT College of Visual Arts & Design.
Decadence comes just in time to capitalize on society’s mounting obsession with the Jazz Age. From Downton Abbey to The Great Gatsby to 1920’s-inspired silhouettes on the runway, fashion enthusiasts are more than intrigued to see what all is in store.
Inspired by the high fashion catwalks of Gucci, Marchesa, and Prada — the growing fascination with such a vibrant and elegant era continues to welcome its resurgence, especially in the city of Dallas.
In honor of its numerous appearances on the high fashion runways, Decadence is set to feature awe-inspiring creations and rare pieces by French, Spanish, and Italian couturiers including Madeleine Vionnet, Mariano Fortuny, Maria Monaco Gallenga, and Lucien Lelong. Swoon!
