ShearShare, an award-winning first-of-its-kind B2B app that matches licensed beauty and barbering professionals to unused salon space, has officially made its move to Buffalo, and in style. Affectionately coined the âHairBNBâ of the beauty industry, ShearShare â just fresh off of its recent win at Buffaloâs 43 North pitch competition â is making its stamp and heralding The Queen City as its official headquarters for operations and its new home.
On February 1st, ShearShare hosted a âWelcome to Buffaloâ party at The Exchange at Beverly Gray (334 E. Utica St.), the first business incubator and co-working space to be opened on the East side of Buffalo with Derrick Parson as the Executive Director. Culminating its own historical footprint along with the start of Black History Month, ShearShare symbolically celebrated its latest milestone at the space that honors Beverly A. Gray â a dedicated community advocate, first black female City Council Member for the city of Buffalo, and entrepreneur. She envisioned Buffaloâs East side as a hub for economic growth, and ShearShare was proud to honor her vision in the space that she worked so hard to make a reality.
âWhen we landed in Buffalo, we wanted to make sure that we not only just left our mark on what tech could be in this city, but to also leave a mark on our community here,â said ShearShare COO and Co-Founder, Courtney Caldwell. âWe always want to remember our roots. Even the basis for ShearShare â Madame C.J. Walker created what is known as booth rental for the salon and barbershop industry. To us, to be able to stand on her shoulders, and to put a tech layer over it now in 2022, makes me so proud and so happy, to be able to pull back from our roots.”
A large representation of the Buffalo black entrepreneurial community came out to meet ShearShare Founders, Dr. Tye and Courtney Caldwell, as DJ Larry Loud spun the beats. Mixing and mingling commenced with dinner catered by Chef Jasmine Cailin K. of Cailinâs Catering, drinks, cakes by Bee Sweet Cakery, and of course, fellowship.
âWhile weâre here celebrating this moment, and as you guys embrace us, we wanted to connect ourselves to the Buffalo community,â said ShearShare CEO and Co-Founder, Dr. Tye Caldwell. âEven though weâre here because of the winnings from 43 North, we know that that is a seed that God has planted, for us to embrace everyone here and this opportunity.â
ShearShare is settling in at its new headquarters at 43 North (1 Seneca St., Floor 24, Buffalo, NY 14203) and is currently hiring. Visit forgebuffalo.com/ for more info.
