This is the number one most popular cosmetic surgery in the United States today. According to This Is Insider, there were 300,378 procedures performed in 2017 for breast augmentation. This was a 3% increase from 2016. Breast augmentations use use breast implants or fat transfer to increase breast size, add symmetry, or round out the breasts. Breast implants can be used to restore lost volume after weight loss or pregnancy, or as reconstruction after a mastectomy or injury.

In fact, Americans spent more than $15 billion in 2016 alone on combined surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. That’s an 11% increase from the year prior, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
