According to Plasticsurgery.org, almost 1.8 million cosmetic surgical procedures were performed in 2017. There were also 17.5 million minimally invasive procedures performed in 2017, including Botox injections, fillers, chemical peels, and laser hair removal. It’s safe to say that plastic surgery is here to stay. Here are the top surgical techniques
taking place all over the United States today.

Breast augmentation

This is the number one most popular cosmetic surgery in the United States today. According to This Is Insider, there were 300,378 procedures performed in 2017 for breast augmentation. This was a 3% increase from 2016. Breast augmentations use use breast implants or fat transfer to increase breast size, add symmetry, or round out the breasts. Breast implants can be used to restore lost volume after weight loss or pregnancy, or as reconstruction after a mastectomy or injury.

Liposuction

There were 246,354 liposuction procedures performed in 2017, which was a 5% increase from the previous year, we had asked experts from the Colorado plastic surgery to see what they had seen with the increase in patients want to get on the Plastic Surgery wagon. Liposuction removes excess fat to slim or reshape specific areas of the body. These areas include the thighs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, waist, upper arms, back, chest, chin, neck, and even calves and ankles. This should not be seen as a weight loss solution, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, but it often is.

Nose reshaping

This procedure is also known as a rhinoplasty, and around 218,924 were performed in 2017. This procedure actually saw a 2% decrease from the previous year. This decrease is probably due to the rise in popularity of nonsurgical alternatives like fillers for straightening out the profile. Often, rhinoplasties are used to correct a deviated septum and even help with sinus issues.

The United States has shown an increased interest in plastic surgery over the years, and that trend is not slowing down. In fact, Americans spent more than $15 billion in 2016 alone on combined surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. That’s an 11% increase from the year prior, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
