The first ever Pilates Week is headed to Dallas and yes, it’s kind of a “big deal.” With Pilates enthusiasts trekking to the Big “D” for special mat sessions, giveaways, and more — Pilates Week is definitely something worth getting excited about.

Created and organized by Pilates Pro and Founder of Pilates Live, Alexia Hammonds, the inaugural week of fun and fitness will benefit the Pilates Youth Organization — a non-profit organization dedicated to implementing health and wellness initiatives for youth at an early age.

“Pilates Week was created to foster a stronger sense of togetherness within the Pilates community,” said Pilates Week Creator and Pilates Live Founder Alexia Hammonds. “One hundred percent of all funds raised during Pilates Week will benefit Pilates Youth Organization and go directly towards scholarships and programs that will develop a well-balanced and healthy lifestyle for our youth.

Programming includes Pilates, self-management, leadership skills, nutritional information, and meditation. The funds raised will also assist Pilates teachers, parents, and community organizations in bringing these resources to children in underserved areas.”

Not to be categorized with yet another mundane Dallas event, we have three reasons why you should mark your calendars, get up, get ready, and get active with Alexia and Co. during Pilates Week 2017. Read on for more:

MEET US AT THE BRIDGE, IT’S GOING DOWN!

How many Dallasites does it take to do one mega Pilates session on the Ron Kirk Pedestrian Bridge? Well, we’re no mathematician but we can only guess hundreds!

As an exciting wind-down to the inaugural Pilates Week, all are invited to the Ron Kirk bridge for a community Pilates session led by 30-year veteran and Vogue’s Top 55 Trainers, Colleen Glenn Wilson. Mix, mingle, mat it down, and stretch with this coveted Pilates Pro for one community inspired event that you’ll never forget.

Takes place May 6, 2017 at 6 p.m. at Ron Kirk Pedestrian Bridge.
