Today, eco-consciousness is more important than ever, and consumers want to know that the businesses that they are supporting support going green. If you run a business and want to show your customers that you are doing your part, here are some ways that you can help advertise your eco-friendly advancement.

1. Eco-Friendly Construction

If possible, you should try to construct your business using eco-friendly and sustainable materials. For instance, bamboo flooring instead of hardwood, concrete framing, eco-friendly insulation, and energy-saving windows are just a few options that you should consider if you are constructing a new site. You can also work with the Project Manager — the person tasked with overseeing construction projects — to make sure that the materials you are using are as sustainable as possible.

If you have a location already, you might want to consider gradually making eco-friendly changes over time. For instance, once your old floors need replacing, you can choose an eco-friendly material. You may also consider updating your business’s HVAC and lighting system to be more energy-efficient, which can save both resources and money.

In an industrial setting, you could also consider switching out things like pollutants and heat exchangers for eco-friendly variants. The Standard Xchange — formerly known as ITT Standard and American Standard — are heat exchangers that can help things run more efficiently, without causing excess energy loss or waste. Additionally, you should always be looking for ways to decrease pollution, while still keeping up the quality of your business products or services.

All of these are changes that your customers can see and feel when they enter your establishment, and you may even consider posting posters declaring these changes in your windows or inside your entryway.

2. Use Eco-Friendly Products

Another way that you can help your business go green and talk about it, is by implementing eco-friendly products throughout your workplace. For instance, if you are a retail store, using reusable bags or bio-degradable bags can be a great way to cut down on your environmental footprint. Similarly, you could offer special discounts to shoppers who buy reusable bags and bring them back. Not only will this help build customer loyalty, but it will give all of your customers a reason to purchase your bags and bring them each time they shop.

More industrial businesses may benefit from advertising the eco-friendliness of the products they make. For instance, if you specialize in powder coatings, you could boast about how they are free from solvents and have few VOC emissions, which makes them highly eco-friendly.

Other changes could include reducing paper waste, openly encouraging recycling, and investing in eco-friendly trash bags and eco-friendly cleaning supplies. Although these may seem like small changes, they can go a long way towards drawing in customers who will appreciate that you are taking the time to be kind to the environment.

3. Support Environmental Organizations

Another great way to let your customers know your stance on the environment is to publically donate and support groups that advocate for green practices. For instance, you can advertise that a percentage of every purchase goes towards an initiative to plant more trees or clean up local areas. Partnering with local environmental organizations can be especially great as more people will be willing to support changes that directly impact where they live, as opposed to thousands of miles away.

Show Your Customers Where You Stand

When it comes to drawing in more eco-conscious customers, it’s important that you take the necessary steps to not only show your customers you are going green, but to actually implement the changes. Advertising these changes can be done with in-store promotional posters and online ads that can help get your message out to a wide audience, and ensure that as many people as possible know about your sustainable practices.
