Being an entrepreneur is a big feat to tackle. And while there are approximately 400 million entrepreneurs worldwide, it isn’t easy and there’s a lot you need to consider. One big thing to consider is how you’re going to handle your marketing. Here we will discuss the importance of marketing for your business and how to best market your business.

Why Marketing Is Important

Marketing is important because it’s how you converse with your clients and potential clients. Despite how obvious this may seem, it’s very true. Your website, brand, and marketing techniques are how you tell the customer who you are, what you do, and how you give them your contact information. Without marketing, your business would not succeed. It’s crucial to your success. Therefore, how well you market is also linked to how well your business will do. In order to do well, here are some tips to consider.

Establish Your Brand

Your brand is huge. It encompasses all of what your business is and stands for. It has to cover who you are and what you do. It also has to be unique, yet still recognizable, and attractive. Your brand will determine your logo, your website creation and content, your social media, and pretty much everything else that you do. Because the brand is so important, consider these tips when trying to figure out what your brand will be.

Firstly, who are you? What service or good do you provide? This is going to be the main step in identifying your business brand.

Second, what are your values? What are you trying to accomplish by being in business? This is a crucial step in identifying your mission or value statements, which are important in your brand.

Thirdly, how can you design the answers to the previous questions into a logo? Your logo should be relatively simple, yet colorful and memorable. Color improves brand recognition by up to 80%, so be sure to include something other than just black and white.

Once you’ve come up with a logo, some mission statements, and a concise “about” section, you can start actually creating the website.

Create Your Website

Creating a website is a really important aspect of brand recognition and marketing because it establishes you as a reputable business. If you don’t even have a website somewhere saying who you are and what you do, anyone who hears about your business will think you are a scam.

Just having any website won’t cut it, though. Roughly 38% of users will stop interacting with a website if its layout is unattractive. You need to not only be online, but your online presence needs to be inviting and also professional.

There are lots of articles dedicated to helping you create the most aesthetically pleasing and well-functioning website you can, so make sure you do some research before jumping right in. The most important thing is to make sure you follow the rule of thirds, have all of your necessary contact information available and easily found, and to limit text to what’s absolutely necessary. This isn’t a blog, though you may have one associated with your website. That said, the homepage needs to be clean and crisp. You can’t have too much text overwhelming the page, nor too many pictures or widgets.

Security is also paramount nowadays. You need to make sure your site is as secure as possible to protect your customers. While many platforms provide decent security for SMBs, you would be wise to go a step further if you’re in the service industry. Having a SOC 2 audit done will make sure that your site meets or exceeds the toughest of scrutiny.

There is a lot of attention to detail that goes with marketing your own business. If you want to be successful, make sure you do your research and stay up to date with your marketing strategies.
