Leading the list of committed breast cancer awareness supporters, Southern department store chain Belk, recently announced its annual participation in the BelkGives on the Go intiative – marking this as the third year that the privately operated mega-retailer has sent its mobile mammography center to select stores across the Southern states.

Belk Mobile Mammography Center

Since its official launch and partnership with Charlotte Radiology in 2013, the Belk mobile mammography center has performed more than 7,400 mammograms throughout the Southeast, with 30 cancer diagnoses being made.

Just this year, the mammography center will visit 80 stores throughout the Belk markets providing free digital screening exams, and breast cancer awareness information to women who register. All exams are performed by Charlotte Radiology’s licensed, female mammography-certified technologists with a board-certified radiologist specialized in breast imaging interpreting the results. Confidential results from the mammography will be sent to both the patient and her primary care physician.

The BelkGives on the Go experience is available to women age 40 and over with no breast cancer concerns, who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months and who have a primary care physician. Eligible participants are encouraged to call 855-655-BMMC (2662) to schedule an appointment. Following completion of the free screening, women can visit the Intimate Apparel department in Belk for a complimentary bra fitting.
